Unexpected Diplomatic Mission of the Kremlin at the World Economic Forum

Special envoy of the Russian president Kirill Dmitriev intends to hold a series of important meetings with US representatives on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Reuters sources report.

According to journalist Barak Ravid, on January 20, Dmitriev will meet with US President's special representatives Steve Witcoff and Jared Kushner. The main topic of negotiations will be a plan for peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine.

Details of the Diplomatic Mission

Earlier, Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov confirmed the continuation of dialogue with the American side during the forum. It is expected that the parties will discuss practical aspects of Ukraine's future economic recovery.

It is important to note that this is the first appearance of a Russian representative at the forum since the full-scale war began in 2022.

Context of the Meeting

Previously, Witcoff and Kushner were negotiating with the Ukrainian delegation, discussing issues of security guarantees and the country's economic development.

The forum in Davos will continue until Friday, and the personal presence of US President Donald Trump is expected.
