During the night of January 20, Russia launched a massive attack on the capital of Ukraine, focusing the main strike on the Left Bank of Kyiv. According to the city mayor Vitaliy Klychko, residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged as a result of the enemy attack.
Attack Details
In the Dnipro district, the blast wave damaged a multi-story building, injuring a 59-year-old resident. About 20 parked cars were also damaged due to falling debris.
Consequences of the Shelling
The attack caused serious infrastructure problems:
- 5,635 multi-story buildings were left without heating
- Disruptions in electricity and water supply were recorded
- Windows and fences in private houses were damaged
Authorities' Response
City authorities urged Kyiv residents to exercise caution and, if possible, create a water supply reserve. Rescue workers, police, and utility services are working in an enhanced mode to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
