Today, November 28, electricity outage schedules continue to be in effect in Ukraine due to regular Russian shelling of energy infrastructure facilities. According to Vitaliy Zaichenko, the chairman of Ukrenergo, as a result of the massive attacks, the situation remains complicated, especially in frontline and border regions.

The electricity supply limitations for residential consumers will be in effect today from 00:00 to 23:59, with volumes ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 stages. Corresponding restrictions have also been implemented for industrial consumers.

Status of the Electrical Infrastructure

As Zaichenko notes, the overall condition of Ukraine's energy system remains critical. Most thermal power plants (TPPs) and hydroelectric power stations have sustained serious damage, with damage levels ranging from 30% to 70%. In the event of severe cold temperatures, electricity supply restrictions for consumers may be extended.

Vitaliy Zaichenko emphasized that the worst-case scenario could be a total blackout, leaving the entire country without light, water, and heat. "But we are prepared; there is engineering protection at our facilities, and there is air defense. The process of restoring the energy system will take a long time, and full restoration is only possible after the war is over," he added.

How Energy Workers Are Responding

Energy workers are working almost around the clock to eliminate the damage. European partners have already provided substantial assistance with equipment that helps quickly address the damage. If attacks from the aggressor decrease, the outage schedules may be gradually lifted.

However, the situation remains tense, especially in the regions that have suffered the most from Russian attacks, such as Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Donetsk region.
