In Ukraine, the "winter support" program has started, under which every citizen can receive 1000 hryvnias from the government. However, compared to the previous year, the list of goods and services for which these funds can be spent has significantly shortened.
What you need to know about "winter support"
Funds from the "winter support" program have already begun to arrive for Ukrainians, but they can only be spent on a limited list of goods. According to the Ministry of Economy, six main categories are included in this program:
- payment for utilities;
- postal services;
- food products;
- medications and medical devices;
- books, magazines, newspapers;
- charity, including donations to the army.
This list is much shorter than last year, when Ukrainians could spend the funds not only on food and utilities but also on mobile top-ups, cinemas, and other entertainment.
How to receive the funds
Payments under the "winter support" program are available through the "Diia" mobile application (you must update to the latest version) or at "Ukrposhta" branches. It is important to note that the funds are allocated only to Ukrainian citizens who are on the territory of the country.
Is the "National Cashback" program still active?
The "National Cashback" program also continues to operate until June 2026, but its conditions are now aligned with the "winter support." This means that Ukrainians can receive compensation for purchases of Ukrainian goods; however, the list of expenses eligible for funds has become limited.
Let us remind you that the previous "winter support" program was in effect last year, and most Ukrainians spent the received thousands on everyday needs. This year, the government has simplified the list of expenditures, which has caused outrage among citizens.
