President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, responding to recent Russian attacks on the Odessa region, announced the decision to replace the commander of the "South" air command. During an online interaction with journalists, the president emphasized the urgent need to strengthen the region's air defense after a series of missile and drone strikes that caused significant damage.

Commander of "South" Air Command, Dmytro Karpenko, who has held the position since 2022, will be replaced. Zelensky noted that he has discussed the matter and expressed confidence in quickly finding a new candidate.

"We will intensify our efforts to respond to threats promptly and effectively, protecting the inhabitants of the Odessa region. Despite the challenges, we must act quickly," stressed Zelensky.

Amidst the attacks that also affected port infrastructure and energy, government teams are already working on restoring damaged sites, ensuring that Odessa residents receive essential food, fuel, and medicines.

Government representatives responsible for local operations include Deputy President for Regional Policy Viktor Mykyta and Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba. These officials coordinate efforts aimed at ensuring the safety of the region's residents and restoring critical infrastructure.
