The Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully carried out a counterattack in the Kupiansk area of the Kharkiv region, encircling Russian troops in the city and blocking all approaches. According to the command of the 2nd Corps of the NSU "Charter," the operation to liberate the city resulted in the destruction of 1027 Russian servicemen.

According to Colonel Ihor Obolensky, commander of the 2nd Corps "Charter," the operation began with the task of blocking the enemy and clearing the northwestern outskirts of the city. Defenders liberated the villages of Kondrashivka and Radkovka, as well as a part of the territory in the north of Kupiansk, cutting the enemy off from their main logistical routes.

The Situation in Kupiansk

The Russian grouping, according to the corps, consists of no more than 200 soldiers who remain encircled in the city center. Enemy logistics are carried out only with the help of drones, as all ground access routes to Kupiansk are completely blocked.

The commander of the 2nd Corps reported that from September 22 to December 12, a significant part of Russian fighters was destroyed, including foreign mercenaries from Syria and African countries. "Currently, the Russians are trying to break through our defense, but we are tracking and destroying all attempts," Obolensky noted.

Support and Interaction

The operation was conducted in cooperation with other Ukrainian units, such as the 475th Assault Battalion "Code 9.2" and the 92nd Assault Brigade. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi also actively supervised the actions of the operational group "Charter."

Alongside these successful actions, Obolensky noted that up to 500 local residents remain in the city, whom the Russian troops are using as a "human shield." "Fighting in the city center continues, but we are confident that Kupiansk will be fully liberated in the future," emphasized the commander.
