Today, December 3, 2025, the national carrier "Ukrzaliznytsia" announced the launch of the pilot version of the "3000 km across Ukraine" program. This new initiative aims to provide free travel for Ukrainians living near the front line, and it started with great success.

In the first hour of the "3000 km across Ukraine" program's activity, over 30 thousand Ukrainians have already activated their free tickets, and "Ukrzaliznytsia" noted that almost the entire first thousand tickets were sold out, mainly for flights from front-line regions, specifically from Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv.

Who is the program aimed at?

The "3000 km across Ukraine" program is focused on residents of front-line communities who wish to visit relatives or relocate to other regions for the winter period. Initially, the offer will be available only for trips between front-line settlements to support those who have been most affected by the war.

About ticket availability

The head of "Ukrzaliznytsia," Oleksandr Pertzovskyi, indicated during a briefing that the tickets participating in the program will make up to 10% of the total seat capacity on trains during the low season, which will significantly increase travel opportunities for those who cannot plan trips in advance.

The main goal of this initiative is to encourage people to have flexibility in choosing the date of travel and to ensure availability in carriages during off-peak periods. "It is important that the program operates in test mode, so initially we will act under limited conditions," Pertzovskyi noted.

Future plans

In the future, "Ukrzaliznytsia" plans to expand the program by adding the option to purchase tickets for residents of front-line communities who are registered in their settlements from other convenient stations. This will help increase service availability and improve conditions for passengers.

Despite potential losses from free rides, "Ukrzaliznytsia" hopes to offset them through dynamic pricing, which is expected to be implemented by mid-January.

The "3000 km across Ukraine" program will continue, and starting from December 5, passengers will be able to take advantage of this opportunity, which holds significant humanitarian value in light of today’s challenges.
