The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has signed Law No. 12094, which establishes new mobile internet standards across the country. The Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced this in his statement on Telegram. Now, communication operators are required to ensure a minimum level of quality, which will become the official indicator.

What Will Change for Ukrainians?

According to the new law, Ukrainians will have the ability to conduct speed tests independently, and the results will be automatically transmitted to the National Commission for Electronic Communications (NCEC). This will allow the government to respond quickly to problem areas and improve communication quality in various regions.

Coverage Expansion and National Roaming

One of the key focuses of the law is to encourage operators to actively develop communication infrastructure, especially in rural areas where stable internet connections are still lacking. The law also introduces the concept of national roaming, which will allow Ukrainians to stay connected even in emergency situations by switching between different operators.

Advantages of the New Law

This law makes mobile internet faster and more predictable, which will benefit all Ukrainians, regardless of their place of residence. Minister Fedorov stated that this is an important step towards modernizing the country's telecommunication infrastructure.

However, despite the positive changes, it is worth noting that Ukraine unfortunately ranks 70th in the world for mobile internet speed, with an average download speed of 58.52 Mbps. The new law aims to change this situation and ensure that all Ukrainians have access to quality and fast internet.
