A fire broke out at the TsSKB-Progress enterprise in Samara, Russia, following a reported strike, according to Ukrainian officials. The company is involved in the production of medium-class launch vehicles and automated spacecraft.
Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said the facility caught fire after the attack. He described TsSKB-Progress as an enterprise connected to Russia’s aerospace and missile-production sector.
TsSKB-Progress is one of Russia’s major aerospace enterprises. The company has historically been involved in the production of Soyuz launch vehicles, as well as spacecraft and other space-related systems.
The reported incident comes amid a broader Ukrainian campaign targeting facilities and infrastructure linked to Russia’s military and strategic capabilities.
Ukraine reports new strikes in occupied territories
The reported fire in Samara follows other Ukrainian operations against Russian-controlled infrastructure.
In the early hours of August 13, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces reportedly carried out the operation dubbed “Crimean Switch Off”, targeting energy infrastructure in temporarily occupied territories.
According to Ukrainian officials, 29 additional energy nodes were damaged during the operation. The reported targets included the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, as well as energy facilities in the occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions and Crimea.
Ukrainian authorities have increasingly focused on infrastructure that supports Russian military operations, including energy facilities, command and control systems and logistics networks.
The reported strike on TsSKB-Progress in Samara represents a different category of target, as the enterprise is associated with Russia’s aerospace industry and the production of launch vehicles and spacecraft.
Russian authorities had not provided a detailed independent assessment of the reported damage at the time of publication. The exact scale of the fire and whether production facilities or equipment were damaged also remains unclear.
The incident highlights the growing geographic reach of Ukrainian strikes against Russian strategic and industrial infrastructure far from the front line.
