Today, February 11, an attempted attack from Russia using "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles took place in Lviv. At 14:40, the Ukrainian Air Force reported launches of two missiles headed towards Lviv. The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, confirmed that the air defense successfully neutralized the enemy targets.

“Today, around 14:40, the enemy launched X-47M2 'Kinzhal' aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K aircraft that took off from Russian territory,” the Ukrainian Air Force reported. According to their information, both missiles did not reach their targets, which was made possible thanks to the titanic efforts of Ukrainian defenders.

Consequences of the attack and moments from the events

Although explosions were heard in the city at the time of the attack, there was no information about destruction or injured people. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi urged residents to remain in shelters, as there was information about a third missile that could be directed at Lviv region.

The air defense forces continue to monitor the situation. According to reports, the territory of Lviv has already been checked, and specialists are assessing the consequences of the response to the missile threat.

This attack occurred against the backdrop of an increase in the activity of Russian aviation in Ukraine, when an air alert was declared across the country due to the takeoff of MiG-31K fighters.

The mayor of Lviv expressed gratitude to the air defense forces and everyone responsible for the protection of the population of Ukraine.
