Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially submitted Mykhailo Fedorov's candidacy to the Verkhovna Rada for the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine. The corresponding draft resolution with number 14377 has been registered in the parliament.

According to official sources, on January 13, 2026, the Verkhovna Rada had already voted to relieve Mykhailo Fedorov from his previous position as First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. This decision was supported by 270 people's deputies.

President Zelenskyy previously proposed the position of Minister of Defense to Fedorov, emphasizing his deep understanding of technological issues in the defense sector. In particular, the head of state highlighted the importance of developing the "Drone Line" and digitalization of public services during wartime.

Further Action Plan

On January 14, the Verkhovna Rada plans to reconsider Fedorov's appointment as Minister of Defense. The nomination will be presented by the President's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Halyna Mykhailyuk.
