During the night of January 4-5, the Air Forces of Ukraine twice declared an air raid alert due to potential missile threats from Russian MiG-31K military aircraft.

According to the Air Forces, several waves of danger were recorded throughout the night. In particular, at 1:37 AM, an air raid alert was announced across the entire territory of Ukraine due to the takeoff of MiG-31K from Russian territory.

Details of the Night Threat

  • Movement of a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (Shaheds) was recorded in various regions
  • Drones were observed in Chernihiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions
  • Directions of movement: westward, towards regional centers

At 2:00 AM, the Air Forces informed about a temporary cancellation of the missile threat, but soon again warned of potential danger.

Threats to Regions

Air raid alerts were announced in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Donetsk, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions.

MiG-31K potentially can carry a hypersonic aeroballistic Kinzhal missile, making it especially dangerous for Ukraine.
