"Russian degenerates once again hit our cemetery. Monuments of ordinary citizens of our city and the Heroes' Alley were damaged. What they do on Holy Evening is the last thing people who believe in God can do... War against monuments, against human souls - this is their style," the mayor stated.
Spokesperson of the Main Department of National Police in Cherkasy region Zoya Vovk confirmed that law enforcement officers are documenting all consequences of the missile attack. All necessary services are working at the scene, examination of the damaged territory continues.
Context of events
This strike was part of a massive Russian attack on the Ukrainian energy system on Christmas Eve. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Russia not only rejected the proposal to stop killings at least on a holy day, but continued terror against the civilian population.
It should be recalled that a day earlier, on December 23, in the Zvenyhorodka area, eight residential buildings were damaged as a result of a drone attack, but there were no injuries then.
