Due to the recent enemy shelling of energy infrastructure, "Ukrenergo" predicts that the energy supply situation will remain difficult in the coming weeks. According to the chairman of the board of NPC "Ukrenergo" Vitaliy Zaychenko, emergency electricity outages lasting up to 16 hours a day are planned in most regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv.
"The situation is quite serious... We are no longer talking about days; we are talking about weeks when it will be necessary to restore energy supply," Zaychenko noted during a telethon. He emphasized that the most difficult situation is currently observed in front-line regions, where outages are implemented to maintain the stability of the energy system.
Schedules of outages and their duration
Initially, it was planned that outages would last 4-8 hours a day, but due to new attacks that occurred on December 6, the duration of outages has been extended to 12-16 hours. This is caused by the need to limit electricity consumption.
"We urge consumers to reduce their consumption to a minimum, leaving only the most necessary appliances," he added, encouraging people to use energy-efficient devices during the night or at times when it is sunny outside.
Forecast for cold weather
During a discussion on possible changes to the outage schedules on cold days, Zaychenko noted that one should not expect an extension of outage periods, as it is also necessary to reduce the load on the energy system in frosty conditions. If it is sunny outside, the outage schedules may be shortened.
"Even in frosty weather, there is a possibility to improve the outage schedules," he concluded. Consumers are asked to follow the commenting rules and stay updated on news regarding changes in the electricity supply regime.
