The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced a new record for the euro exchange rate in the currency market. As of December 12, the official exchange rate of the European currency has risen to 49.52 hryvnias per one euro, marking a historical maximum. The hryvnia has weakened by 30 kopecks against the euro, as the previous record was 49.41 UAH and was recorded on July 2.

According to the NBU, on Friday, December 12, the exchange rate of the US dollar was 42.27 hryvnias, indicating a slight strengthening of the hryvnia by one kopeck compared to the previous banking day.

Interbank Currency Market

On the interbank currency market of Ukraine, the hryvnia quotes were 42.16/42.19 UAH per dollar and 49.43/49.45 UAH per euro until 16:00.

Experts' Forecasts

According to expert Taras Lesovyi, director of the financial markets and investment activities department at "Globus Bank," the increased demand for currency may persist amid a tense market situation. "The situation remains dynamic, and the demand for currency may rise both in the interbank market and among the population," the expert comments.

On one hand, the NBU is taking measures to stabilize the currency market, and on the other hand, large taxpayers continue active trading, which in turn also affects exchange rate changes.

Despite the challenging economic conditions, analysts believe that the NBU has all the necessary tools to support the exchange rate of the hryvnia at a controlled level.

In exchange offices and banks, according to information as of December 11, the euro exchange rate at "PrivatBank" was 49.80 hryvnias per euro, which is 35 kopecks higher than the previous day.

Conclusion

Thus, the situation with the euro exchange rate indicates fluctuations in the currency market and marks a significant weakening of the hryvnia in the context of the European currency. Many international news agencies continue to monitor changes in the currency market in Ukraine.
