The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, today signed decree No. 866/2025, appointing Alexander Litvinenko as the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Serbia. This occurred following the dismissal of the previous ambassador, Volodymyr Tolkach, who held this position since 2021.

Alexander Litvinenko has significant experience in government structures. Before becoming an ambassador, he engaged in important matters in various positions, including work in the Security Service of Ukraine and in the National Security and Defense Council's apparatus. Since 2014, he has been the Deputy Secretary of the NSDC.

Context of the appointment

Serbia recently confirmed its support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and its European aspirations, although it has not yet joined the sanctions against Russia. It is important to note that Litvinenko, as the new ambassador, will represent Ukraine's interests in a country that holds strategic importance for regional security and policy.

Expectations and plans

With the appointment of a new ambassador, both countries hope to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields. It is crucial for the new ambassador to effectively convey Ukraine's position on the international stage.
