On the morning of November 28, 2023, searches took place in the government quarter of the capital of Ukraine involving the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP). This time, the focus of law enforcement was on the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.

According to data from a correspondent of "Ukrainska Pravda", about ten employees of NABU and SAP visited the territory of the government quarter, where key state bodies are located.

This stage of the investigation into the corruption case "Midas" concerning abuses in the energy sector occurred after recent statements by NABU director Semen Kryvonos, who emphasized that the case is expanding and new suspicions will be raised in the near future.

Background of the searches

The searches at Andriy Yermak's took place shortly after investigations into a large-scale corruption scheme uncovered in "Energoatom." In turn, in connection with this, searches were previously conducted at businessman Timur Mindich and Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko, as suspicions had also been confirmed regarding these individuals.

Reaction and next steps

"Ukrainska Pravda" is trying to obtain comments from NABU regarding the current situation and further steps in the investigation.

In particular, with the imposition of sanctions against Mindich and his associates, representatives of the authorities emphasize the seriousness of the approach to fighting corruption in Ukraine.

The situation remains tense, and experts believe that these searches could become an important step in combating corruption schemes at the highest state level.
