During the night of January 20, Russian troops launched a powerful strike on Kyiv using drones and ballistic missiles. This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration and the Air Force of Ukraine.
Attack Progression
The first alarm signals came at 01:59, when the Air Force warned about a ballistic threat from the north. At 02:00, a target was identified in the direction of Kyiv.
Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Tymur Tkachenko urgently addressed the city residents: "Russians are attacking the capital. Please immediately seek shelter".
Attack Consequences
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, there is one injured person in the Dniprovskyi district. Tymur Tkachenko added that non-residential buildings are damaged and cars are burning in the area.
At 03:51, the air raid alert was lifted in the city.
Context
The day before, on January 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned about the possibility of a new massive attack by Russia.
