The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) announced a decrease in the official exchange rate of the hryvnia for December 16, 2025. According to the regulator, the exchange rate of the US dollar has increased to 42.24 hryvnias per dollar, which is 5 kopecks more than the previous banking day.

Exchange rate of the euro and the zloty

The exchange rate of the European currency has also risen, now standing at 49.65 hryvnias per euro, which means a depreciation of the hryvnia by 19 kopecks. The exchange rate of the Polish zloty on December 16 reached 11.76 hryvnias per zloty, having increased by 5 kopecks compared to the previous day.

Financial forecasts

Financial analysts note that the NBU continues to ease pressure on the exchange rate, creating conditions for calmer trading. At the same time, there remains seasonal demand in the market from large payers. Economist Andriy Novak emphasizes that the NBU has sufficient tools to support the currency market, and international financial support plays a key role in this process.

According to forecasts from the investment company Dragon Capital, the dollar exchange rate may rise to 43.5 hryvnias by the end of 2025. The draft state budget for 2026 assumes an average annual exchange rate of the dollar at 45.6 hryvnias.

The exchange rate remains a relevant topic for Ukrainians, as it directly impacts the standard of living and the economic situation in the country.
