In the night of December 13, strong explosions were heard in Odesa amid the threat of missile attacks. According to reports from the Ukrainian public broadcaster "Suspilne," information about the explosions began to arrive around 1:30 AM. Initially, the media reported a "strong explosion," after which new data about subsequent explosions in the city started coming in.

According to the military forces, Russian soldiers targeted Odesa and surrounding areas using ballistic missiles and drones. As a result of the attack, a civilian vessel in the port of "Chornomorsk" was damaged, and one man was injured. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern following the attacks that damaged a Turkish cargo ship that was in a Ukrainian port.

Attack on rescuers

On the same day, Russian troops attacked rescuers in the Odesa region who had arrived to extinguish a fire caused by the shelling. According to the information from the State Emergency Service, the rescuers managed to escape to safety during the shelling; however, their equipment was damaged.

The head of the Odesa Regional Administration, Oleg Kiper, emphasized that the Russian army again struck civilian and port infrastructure. Firefighting equipment from the State Emergency Service units was also affected by the shelling, which resulted in the injury of one citizen and damage to infrastructure facilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on these attacks, stating that the Russian invasion has no military significance and continues to destroy normal life in Ukraine.
