Today, the Romny community said goodbye to the defender of Ukraine, soldier Oleg Blyzniuk, who lost his life on the front lines. This tragedy serves as yet another painful reminder of the cost Ukraine pays for its independence.
Farewell to the hero
On November 26, 2025, a farewell ceremony for Oleg Blyzniuk took place in the city of Romny, Sumy region, who had been mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 25, 2024. The fallen warrior served in the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Polissia Brigade and was later transferred to the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion.
Oleg Blyzniuk, born on March 22, 1995, worked as a gas-electric welder in Poland and Kyiv before his mobilization. He was a loving father and husband, known for his good humor and sociability among friends.
Tragic news
Communication with Oleg was severed on December 18, 2024; for a long time, he was considered missing in action. On November 21, 2025, news of his death while performing combat duties in Khursk became known. Oleg was only 29 years old.
Family, friends, comrades, and residents of the Romny community accompanied the hero on his last journey, remembering his significant contribution to the fight for the country's freedom. Oleg is survived by his mother, father, wife, and son.
Day of mourning
In connection with his death, the Romny city territorial community declared today a Day of Mourning. The community gathered to honor the memory of the charismatic defender and to acknowledge his immense contribution to the defense of Ukraine.
