A series of explosions was reported across Russia during the night of August 3. Following a drone attack, a large fire broke out at the Belgorod State Technological University (BSTU), a university known for developing and testing unmanned aerial systems. A separate fire was also reported at a Wildberries logistics warehouse in Russia's Vladimir region.
According to Russian Telegram channels and the independent outlet ASTRA, eyewitnesses reported heavy smoke and flames rising from the university campus after the attack.
Open-source information indicates that BSTU had been working on an automated drone control system based on the Russian-made "Milandr" microprocessor. The university previously stated that the technology was intended for civilian applications, including power line inspections, thermal pipeline monitoring, and aerial surveying.
As of now, authorities in Belgorod have not released details about the extent of the damage, although regional officials repeatedly warned residents overnight about the threat of drone attacks.
Meanwhile, another fire erupted at a Wildberries logistics center in the Vladimir region. Regional governor Alexander Avdeyev said the blaze followed a drone attack and confirmed that the facility had sustained damage.
RWB (Wildberries & Russ), the company operating the warehouse, acknowledged the fire but has not disclosed the scale of the losses.
According to BBC Russian, this is now more than the 15th Wildberries facility reportedly damaged in drone attacks since the beginning of the campaign.
Earlier reports indicated that on the night of August 2, drones also struck several Russian facilities, including an oil refinery in Saratov and another Wildberries logistics hub in the Samara region.
