Military expert Oleh Zhdanov commented on another massive Russian missile strike on Ukraine, carried out on the night of January 20, detailing the specifics of using the "Zircon" missile.

According to the expert, the Russian army used a unique attack tactic, which included 339 Shahid strike drones, 15 X-101 cruise missiles, 18 Iskander ballistic missiles, and an anti-ship Zircon missile.

Features of the Zircon Missile

Oleh Zhdanov emphasized the experimental nature of the missile, which was adopted into service in 2023. The main characteristics remain undefined:

  • Flight range: from 300 to 1000 kilometers
  • Speed: up to 8-9 Mach
  • Flight altitude: 30-40 kilometers

Risks to Civilian Population

The expert highlighted the extreme danger of the "Zircon" due to its unpredictability. The missile can be programmed for one object but hit a completely different location, creating a deadly risk for civilians.

According to Zhdanov's assessment, Russian attacks have the nature of deliberate terror, as missiles are launched into densely populated areas to cause maximum destruction.

Prospects for Further Attacks

The military expert suggested that the current shelling is not at its maximum, and Russia has reserves for repeating massive attacks. At the same time, he drew attention to possible issues with missile production, especially electronic components.
