Ukrainians are in for true winter weather ahead of the New Year celebration. Meteorologists forecast a sharp cold snap with temperatures dropping to -16°C in some regions of the country.
Weather Situation Details
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, temperatures will drop on the night of December 31st to -1...-9 degrees in some areas. It will be coldest in the East, Northeast of the country, and in the Carpathians, where temperatures are expected to fall to minus 13 degrees.
Regional Forecast
Meteorologist Ivan Semylit reported that in the first days of January, nighttime temperatures may fall to 6-14 degrees below zero. The eastern regions are forecast to have the lowest temperatures - up to minus 16 degrees.
Temperature Fluctuations
Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 6 degrees below zero to 2 degrees above zero. In western regions and the far South, temperatures on the night of January 2nd are predicted to be from 0 to 6 degrees below zero.
Expected Warming
Meteorologists forecast a gradual warming from January 2-3. In southern regions, temperatures may rise to +5 degrees, and in Crimea - even up to +11 degrees.
