Today, in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv, two explosions occurred, which law enforcement officials classify as a terrorist act. As a result of this horrific event, a national guard soldier was killed, and four other people, including law enforcement officers, were injured.
According to information provided by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the region, the first explosion happened around 3:00 PM during the patrol of the area by two national guard fighters. One of them died on the spot, while another national guard soldier and a security guard who was nearby were injured.
The second explosion occurred when police officers and medics, summoned for an urgent call, were already working at the scene. Two police officers were injured in the blast.
Investigation
Investigators from the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the two explosions, qualifying the incident under part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as a terrorist act that resulted in loss of life.
At this moment, it has been established that in both cases, a homemade explosive device went off. Law enforcement officials continue to clarify the circumstances and motives of the crime.
This event has caused a wide public resonance and reminded many Ukrainians of the dangers faced by security forces in the context of the modern Ukrainian war.
