On Thursday, December 26, power supply restrictions will again be implemented in most regions of Ukraine. This was announced by the company "Ukrenergo," explaining the decision as a consequence of massive Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system.
"Hourly blackout schedules and power limitation schedules for industrial consumers will be applied," the energy workers noted.
Changes in Chernihiv region: more consumers under blackouts
From December 25, an updated hourly blackout schedule with an increased number of involved consumers began operating in Chernihiv region. According to Kateryna Drozdova, spokesperson for JSC "Chernihivoblenergo," the regional administration reviewed the list of critical infrastructure and added new consumers to the blackout program.
"This may reduce the number of hours during which people will be without electricity. NEC Ukrenergo will take this into account when determining the scope of restrictions," the spokesperson explained.
Currently, about 16% of the region's consumers are powered by lines that are not subject to blackouts.
DTEK updated schedules for Dnipropetrovsk region and Kyiv
DTEK company also made changes to blackout schedules on December 25. In Dnipropetrovsk region, two sub-queues received an additional 3.5 hours without electricity, while two more sub-queues got an additional "dark hour."
In Kyiv, the situation changed throughout the day. Initially, sub-queue 4.2 had its blackout duration reduced from seven to four hours, while sub-queue 2.2 received three additional hours without electricity. However, later the capital returned to previous blackout schedules.
Consequences of Russian attacks
The implementation of schedules is related to the consequences of recent massive missile and drone attacks by Russia on Ukrainian energy facilities. On the night of December 24, the Russian army once again attacked Ukraine's energy system, partially leaving consumers in five regions without electricity.
On Christmas, December 25, Russia again attacked Ukraine's energy system, as a result of which four regions were partially left without electricity.
Where to find your schedule
Energy workers remind that the situation in the energy system is dynamic and can change at any time depending on consumption levels and the pace of repair work.
