Right-back of Donetsk's Shakhtar and Ukraine national team Yukhym Konoplyanka has made a final decision about his future at the club – the footballer refused the management's proposal to extend cooperation.

Details of recent negotiations

According to sports journalist Igor Burbas, the Donetsk club offered the defender a new contract with a salary of about 800 thousand dollars per year. However, Konoplyanka rejected this proposal, remaining true to his previous statement.

"Earlier, Konoplyanka mentioned in conversations with teammates that he would either become the highest-paid player or leave the club," Burbas reported on his YouTube channel.

Player statistics and value

Yukhym's current contract with Shakhtar runs until September 30, 2026. During his time playing for the Donetsk team, the defender has played 106 matches, scoring seven goals and providing 15 assists.

This season, Konoplyanka shows consistent performance: he scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists in 19 matches at club level. Transfermarkt portal values the player at five million euros.

Club's reaction

After Konoplyanka's refusal to continue cooperation, Shakhtar's management decided to actively enter the transfer market in search of a new right-back. According to reports by Sergiy Tyshchenko, the club has already started looking for reinforcement for this position.

After 16 rounds of the Ukrainian championship, Arda Turan's team is second in the Ukrainian Premier League table, trailing LNZ due to a defeat in their head-to-head meeting.

It's worth noting that Konoplyanka played for Shakhtar throughout his professional career, except for the 2019-2021 seasons when he played on loan for Desna.
