Scandal at Euro-2026 Futsal Tournament
The European Football Union (UEFA) has initiated official disciplinary proceedings against Russian futsal player Denis Nieviedrov, who plays for the Armenian national team, due to offensive remarks about Ukraine.
The incident occurred after the first round match of the Euro-2026 futsal group stage, where the Armenian team unexpectedly defeated the Ukrainian team 2:1. During the celebrations, Nieviedrov shouted derogatory words at the camera directed at Ukraine.

31-year-old Nieviedrov, a Russian futsal player naturalized by Armenia in 2021, made offensive comments after the match, prompting the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) to demand sanctions from UEFA.
