US President Donald Trump made a scandalous statement about Greenland's defense system during a conversation with journalists aboard Air Force One, calling it "two dog sleds".

According to the American leader, the island lacks a real defense system, creating potential threats from Russia and China. "Their defense consists mainly of two dog sleds. Russian and Chinese destroyers and submarines are everywhere," Trump said.

Greenland Authorities' Reaction

The Greenland government firmly rejected the US president's statements. Island representatives emphasized that their security is ensured through NATO, of which Denmark is a member.

Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen stressed: "Our country has strategic importance. Our security is crucial for us, our allies, and stability in the Arctic".

Political Context

Earlier, Trump had expressed a desire to purchase Greenland, which drew sharp criticism from the Danish government. Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen even stated that a forceful annexation of the island would mean the end of NATO.
