Energy Crisis in Action: Government Raises Alarm

Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal announced an extremely difficult situation in the Ukrainian energy system. According to him, due to systematic Russian attacks, not a single undamaged power plant remains in Ukraine.

The most challenging situation is observed in Kyiv, Kyiv region, Odesa region, Dnipropetrovsk region, and Kharkiv region. Front-line communities have been particularly affected.

Main Energy System Challenges

  • Russia has knocked out thousands of megawatts of capacity from the Ukrainian energy system
  • Ukraine needs to install 2.2-2.7 GW of generation by 2026
  • The pace of distributed generation introduction is currently insufficient

Shmyhal emphasized that the state is actively increasing the number of invincibility points and increasing electricity imports from European Union countries. Reserve energy equipment is being redistributed between regions.

Government Plans

The minister announced holding an "energy Ramstein" to engage international partners in restoring energy infrastructure. The government also calls on businesses to turn off external advertising to save electricity.

According to Shmyhal, despite the difficulties, Ukraine's energy system remains intact, and dispatchers maintain control over it.
