On the night of January 20, 2026, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv and several other Ukrainian cities, resulting in the loss of heat, light, and water.

Scale of the Attack

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the occupiers attacked with one Zircon anti-ship missile, 18 Iskander-M/S-300 ballistic missiles, 15 X-101 cruise missiles, and 339 Shahed attack drones.

Consequences in Kyiv

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that as a result of the attack, 5,635 multi-story buildings were left without heat, representing about 80% of previously restored buildings. The left bank of the city was most affected, with water supply almost completely disrupted in all districts.

Situation in Other Cities

Russian missiles and drones also attacked Dnipro, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, and Rivne. In Dnipro, the strike caused a fire and damaged enterprises and infrastructure. In Odesa, a hit was recorded on a residential building in the city of Chornomorsk.

Presidential Comment

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that before the strike, Ukraine received the necessary missiles for air defense systems, which significantly helped in defense.

Ukraine's air defense was able to shoot down/suppress 342 targets, including 14 ballistic missiles and 315 drones.
