Consequences of the night attack on energy facilities

On the night of December 24-25, on the eve of Christmas, Russia attacked Ukrainian energy facilities, which led to power outages for consumers in five regions - Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Odesa.

As a result of the attack, the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant, part of the Metinvest group, was shut down. However, thanks to prompt actions by personnel and the use of backup power sources, it was possible to avoid more serious consequences for equipment and restore operations in the evening of the same day.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that emergency restoration work continues around the clock. The situation in the energy system remains difficult due to risks of repeated strikes on energy infrastructure.
