The electricity supply situation in the Cherkasy region is becoming increasingly difficult following a massive missile strike by Russian forces. According to a statement by Vitalii Zaichenko, the head of the board of "Ukrenergo," the stabilization of electricity supply may take several weeks.

“Unfortunately, power outages in most regions last not 8 hours, as initially planned, but up to 12-16 hours,” Zaichenko noted. He mentioned that there is currently a situation where the electricity outage schedules are undergoing significant changes, and the population must be prepared for longer interruptions in supply.

Specifically, in the Cherkasy region, power outages today can last up to 17 hours. “The problem lies in extensive damage to the energy infrastructure, after which returning to a stable mode will take more time,” he added.

Recommendations for Consumers

Vitalii Zaichenko also urged consumers to reduce electricity consumption and use energy-intensive appliances only at night or during sunny weather. Such measures may help improve the situation.

Context of Events

A massive attack by Russian armed forces took place on December 6, striking energy generation, distribution, and transmission facilities in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Lviv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv. Currently, "Ukrenergo" is making every effort to restore energy networks, but the situation remains extremely complicated.

Consumers are advised to follow the news and the outage schedules, which may be updated in light of the developing situation.
