In Kyiv, this morning, 41-year-old Dmytro Kadenyuk, the son of Ukraine's first astronaut Leonid Kadenyuk, was found dead. According to information received by journalists, the body of the deceased was discovered by his mother, Vira Kadenyuk, in their apartment on Lesya Ukrainka Square.
According to family acquaintances, Dmytro was lying by the front door with multiple cuts on his body. He was holding a knife; however, no suicide note was found. Preliminary data suggests that the nature of the injuries indicates a struggle rather than a suicide attempt.
Investigation and Circumstances of the Tragedy
The police have opened a criminal proceeding under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional murder. A forensic investigative team and a medical expert are currently working at the scene of the incident. The Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv has confirmed the fact of the tragedy, but details are not yet disclosed.
It is known that after the death of Leonid Kadenyuk in 2018, disputes over the inheritance began among relatives, particularly concerning a four-room apartment in Pechersk. Vira Kadenyuk had previously mentioned that she and Dmytro received threats from another son of the astronaut from his first marriage, Volodymyr, who also claims rights to the property.
