The situation with electricity supply in Ukraine has significantly worsened in recent days. According to information from the company "DTEK," in certain regions, the duration of electricity outages has increased to 12-16 hours. The reason for this state of affairs is one of the largest missile strikes by the Armed Forces of Russia on the energy infrastructure, which occurred overnight on Saturday. It was noted that 714 missiles and drones were involved.

Despite the effectiveness of the air defense system (PDS), Ukraine's energy system sustained serious damage, which directly affected the availability of electricity. Thermal power plants, including "DTEK CHP," as well as high-voltage networks, were hit. This led to problems with safely transmitting electricity to consumers.

Due to damage to the high-voltage networks, nuclear power plants (NPPs) were forced to reduce their capacity, as the networks cannot safely accept and transmit all the required electricity. "As a result of the forced reduction in NPP capacity, there is even less available electricity in Ukraine," specialists from the company note.

The head of the DTEK press service assures that energy teams are working around the clock, but the process of restoring damaged infrastructure takes a significant amount of time. The worst situation is observed in frontline areas, where the need for restoration is most critical.

In the context of recent events, it is worth noting that, as stated by the head of the communications department of the air defense team, Yuriy Ignat, Russia currently has enough resources to conduct massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine one to two times a week.
