From February 6 to 22, 2026, Italy will host the 25th Winter Olympic Games. The opening ceremony will take place at the legendary "San Siro" stadium in Milan.

Approximately 2900 athletes from more than 90 countries will compete for 116 sets of medals at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Athletes from Russia and Belarus will only participate under a neutral status, provided there are no ties to the military or intelligence services.
Opening Ceremony
The official opening ceremony will start at 21:00 Kyiv time. During the event, the Olympic flame will be lit, and a traditional parade of participating countries will take place, featuring a team of 46 athletes representing Ukraine.
The ceremony also promises to be filled with performances from famous music artists such as Mariah Carey, Laura Pausini, and Andrea Bocelli.
Sporting Competitions
Competitions will be held at several sports venues located in two Italian cities: Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. Specifically, skiing, bobsleigh, skeleton, and curling events will take place in Cortina.
The Dolomite Alps, where Cortina is located, is one of the most picturesque locations, attracting tourists and Olympic participants for many years.
Tourist Attractions
Besides the sporting events, the area around Cortina d'Ampezzo offers numerous options for leisure, including cable cars to the summit of Mount Tofane, which offers breathtaking views. Due to its name associated with the famous slope, this location regularly hosts stages of the World Cup.
