During the night of January 9, Russian troops launched a massive strike on Ukraine, damaging the building of the Qatari Embassy in Kyiv. This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his official address.
According to the head of state, a Russian drone damaged the building of the Qatari diplomatic mission - a country that actively helps mediate with Russia regarding the release of prisoners of war and civilians.

The massive strike by Russian troops included:
- 242 drones
- 22 cruise missiles
- 13 ballistic missiles
Zelenskyy emphasized that four people were killed in the attack, including an ambulance worker. The main target of the strike was Kyiv region and the capital.

"A clear response from the world is needed, primarily from the US, whom Russia actually respects," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated. He stressed the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense support.
