Energy company DTEK has published scheduled power outage schedules for Dnipropetrovsk region on December 26. Meanwhile, restrictions have been cancelled in five regions of Ukraine until the end of the day.

According to information published on the company's official Telegram channel, December 26 will see electricity restrictions for household and industrial consumers in most regions of Ukraine. Earlier, representatives of the state company "Ukrenergo" reported the implementation of such measures, but did not specify the scope.

Five regions exempted from outages

On the evening of December 25, regional energy companies announced the cancellation of power outage schedules until the end of the day in five regions: Lviv, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions.

Meanwhile, by order of "Ukrenergo", emergency outage schedules for five consumer groups each were introduced in Sumy and Poltava regions.

Reason for restrictions — network damage

Acting head of the State Energy Supervision Anatoliy Zamulko explained that the current electricity outage schedules are caused not by lack of generation, but by significant network damage as a result of Russian strikes.

"Regarding the overall generation situation — all our generation is working today. We have reached a sufficiently powerful indicator with the available generation," he said on Thursday.

According to him, the problem lies in the networks — due to significant damage after RF attacks, network restrictions are in effect, as it is difficult to ensure normal electricity transmission.

Consequences of the night attack

On the night of December 24-25, on the eve of Christmas, the aggressor country Russia attacked Ukrainian energy facilities. As a result of the shelling, consumers in five regions were left without power — Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Odesa.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that emergency restoration work continues around the clock, and hourly outages and power restrictions for businesses are in effect throughout the country.

Ukraine has agreed with EU partners on electricity flows and imports electricity as needed to balance the system. However, restrictions remain and will continue due to network damage.
