On December 26, electricity outage schedules will continue to operate in Ukraine for most regions. DTEK company published specific schedules for Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions after Russia's nighttime attack on energy facilities.
The outage schedules were introduced as a result of a large-scale attack by the aggressor country that took place on the night of December 24-25. As a result of the shelling, consumers in five regions were left without power — Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Odesa.
Reason for outages — not lack of generation
Acting Head of the State Energy Supervision Anatoliy Zamulko explained that the current restrictions are related not to a lack of generation, but to network damage.
"Regarding the overall generation situation, all our generation is working today. We have reached a quite powerful indicator with the available generation," he stated.
According to him, the problem lies in significant damage to electrical networks after RF strikes, which complicates normal electricity transmission and forces the implementation of outage schedules.
Positive changes in five regions
At the same time, there was also positive news on the evening of December 25. Regional energy companies reported the cancellation of outage schedules until the end of the day in five regions:
- Lviv
- Volyn
- Chernivtsi
- Ivano-Frankivsk
- Ternopil
However, emergency outages were introduced in Sumy and Poltava regions for five consumer groups due to serious damage to the energy system.
Restoration work continues
Ukraine's Ministry of Energy reported that emergency restoration work continues around the clock. Ukraine has also coordinated electricity flows with EU partners and imports electricity as needed to balance the system.
Despite all efforts, restrictions will persist due to network damage that requires long-term restoration.
