Kyiv expects real winter weather for Christmas 2025 with frosts down to -10 degrees at night and -3...-4 degrees during the day. Weather forecaster Natalia Didenko reported this, warning about a sharp temperature drop across Ukraine.
Frosty Christmas across Ukraine
According to meteorologists' forecasts, on the night of December 25, temperatures in most regions of Ukraine will drop to -5...-13 degrees, and during the day will be -3...-8 degrees. Only in Transcarpathia and Crimea, temperatures around zero degrees are expected.
"Christmas in Ukraine will be with real frosts. Ice conditions are expected on the roads," Didenko warned.
Sunny weather for the holiday
On December 25, Ukraine's weather will be determined by an anticyclone, so dry and sometimes even sunny weather without precipitation will prevail. On Thursday, partly cloudy and frosty weather will establish across the entire country. Light snow is possible only in the Carpathian region at night and in the first half of the day.
Changes after Christmas
Right after Christmas, on December 26, forecasters predict a dramatic change in weather conditions. Atmospheric fronts will visit Ukraine — snow will fall, wind will strengthen, but at the same time air temperature will rise.
On Friday, December 26, cold and mostly dry weather will persist in most regions. Light snow and weak blizzards are expected only in eastern regions. Temperature will be -5...-10 degrees at night, in western regions locally -11...-14 degrees.
Weekend forecast
On Saturday, December 27, stable anticyclonic weather without significant precipitation will prevail everywhere. Light snow is expected only in the far east at night and in the morning.
On Sunday, December 28, stable and dry weather without precipitation will establish against the background of increased atmospheric pressure. At night and in the morning, fog is possible in places. Temperature will fluctuate from -2 to -7 degrees at night and from -2 to +3 degrees during the day.
Drivers should be especially careful due to ice on roads, especially in western regions.
