Emergency Situation in the Power System
Due to the complicated situation caused by Russian shelling and unfavorable weather conditions, emergency power outages have been introduced in several regions of Ukraine. According to Ukrenergo, previously published hourly power outage schedules are no longer in effect.
Regions Covered by Emergency Shutdowns
In particular, emergency disconnections have been applied in:
- Kharkiv and Kharkiv region
- Odesa region
- Donetsk region
- Kyiv (partially)
- Brovary and Boryspil districts of Kyiv region
Situation in Kyiv
Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak reported that emergency power outages are currently ongoing in the Left Bank and partially on the right bank of the capital. According to him, there is a gradual transition from emergency restrictions to predicted hourly disconnection schedules.
Causes of the Emergency Situation
Recall that on the night of January 9, Russia launched a powerful strike on Kyiv's energy infrastructure, resulting in serious disruptions to electricity, water, and heat for some of the capital's residents. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, at that time, over half of the houses were temporarily left without heat.
Energy workers ask the population to consume electricity as economically as possible and be prepared for potential outages.
