The Head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Freedom of Speech, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, made public a list of journalists who were illegally monitored by the co-owners of the studio "Kvartal-95", including Timur Mindič. This information was obtained by the deputy from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and was published on his Facebook page with their permission.
The list mainly includes the names of well-known journalists, including:
- Marina Ansiforova (COSA Intelligence Solutions, Liga.net)
- Yuriy Butusov (commander of a platoon in the 13th brigade of the National Guard "Charter" and editor-in-chief of "Cenzor.net")
- Stanislav Rechynskyi (editor-in-chief of "ORD")
- Volodymyr Fedorin (editor-in-chief of "Forbes Ukraine")
- Olha Chaika (editor of "Forbes Ukraine")
- Yuriy Nikolov (co-founder of the project "Our Money")
- Andriy Kulykov (head of the Commission on Journalistic Ethics)
Yurchyshyn noted that dossiers had been compiled on some journalists, which could lead to interference in their private lives. The people's deputy pointed out that this could provide grounds for opening a criminal case under Article 182 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. However, for this, the affected journalists must personally contact law enforcement agencies.
After the discovery of the dossiers against them, some journalists have already expressed their intention to report to the police. Volodymyr Fedorin mentioned that he plans to consult legal experts before making a decision. Yuriy Butusov reported that he intends to approach law enforcement soon.
It is worth recalling that 527 documents related to NABU detectives, deputies, officials, journalists, and law enforcement officers were found in Mindič's "back office." The information published by Yurchyshyn was the result of searches conducted by law enforcement in a corruption case in the energy sector known as "Midas."
Yurchyshyn emphasized that the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Freedom of Speech is ready to provide support to journalists who have fallen victim to illegal surveillance.
