The youth team of Almaty club Kairat celebrated an important victory in the U-19 Champions League, defeating their Greek opponents Olympiacos with a score of 2-0. The match took place at the Astana Arena on December 9, 2025.
The winning goal was scored by Ramazan Bagdat in the fourth minute, and in the 57th minute, Mukhamedali Abish doubled the advantage for the Almaty team with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area. Kairat's goalkeeper, Sherkhan Kalmurza, showcased an excellent performance, saving 5 shots on target, which helped keep the net intact.
This victory became the first for Kairat in the group stage of the 2025/2026 Champions League. As a result of this outcome, the team climbed to the 28th position in the tournament table.
On the same evening at Astana Arena, the main teams of Kairat and Olympiacos will meet, with the kickoff scheduled for 20:30 Kazakhstan time.
It was also announced that the captain of Kairat's main team for this match will be the goalkeeper of the Kazakhstan national team, Temirlan Anarbekov. He will lead the team onto the field in yellow and black uniforms; however, forward Dastan Satpaev will miss the game due to suspension.
The coach of Kairat is Rafael Urazbakhtin, while the visitors are managed by Spaniard Jose Luis Mendilibar.
