In 2026, the people's deputies of Ukraine will significantly increase their payments. The Verkhovna Rada has approved a budget draft that anticipates an increase in compensation for exercising parliamentary powers from one to three monthly salaries of the elected representatives.

According to the conclusions of the budget committee, the current salary of a deputy ranges from 60,000 to 65,000 hryvnias, so from January 1, 2026, about 200,000 hryvnias will be allocated for parliamentary activities.

Reasons and Goals for Increasing Payments

Such payments are intended to support the activities of deputies, specifically for maintaining public reception offices and paying for legal services that help solve voters' problems. Additional funds may also be used for business trips, considering that daily allowances for civil servants have remained unchanged.

State Budget 2026

It is noteworthy that on December 3, the Verkhovna Rada approved the state budget for 2026. The head of the budget committee, Roksolana Pilat, stated that the document includes expenditures for the security and defense sector amounting to 2.8 trillion hryvnias, which will constitute 27% of Ukraine's GDP. The budget will also reflect the outcomes of negotiations with international partners regarding funding.

Members of parliament also plan to increase salaries for educators: by 30% from January 1 and by 20% from September 2026. This implies that the minimum base salary for teachers will be 2.5 times higher than the minimum wage.

Thus, key issues related to the funding of parliamentary activities and support in the education sector have sparked lively debates in parliament, and further decisions will depend on the dynamics of the economic situation in the country.
