This week, on November 24, a telephone conversation took place between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, during which issues related to Taiwan and the war in Ukraine were discussed. Diplomat Volodymyr Khandogiy commented on this conversation, noting that the initiative came from the Chinese side, as China is facing serious problems in the region, especially with the new government of Japan.

Khandogiy, president of the Ukrainian Association of Foreign Policy, emphasized that Japan's position is clear: they will not stand aside if China continues its policy of annexing Taiwan. This issue has raised concerns, as Japan considers China’s actions an existential threat.

Additionally, the two leaders discussed the situation regarding the war in Ukraine. Xi Jinping expressed China’s willingness to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the conflict, highlighting the importance of achieving a fair peace agreement between the parties.

In Khandogiy's view, this conversation was not decisive for Ukrainian issues, but it underscores that China remains an important player in global politics. The diplomat also expressed the position that China must clearly state the impossibility of using nuclear weapons, which helps deter aggression from Russia.

Chinese officials, led by Xi Jinping, clarified their position on Taiwan, according to which the country plans to "unify fellow compatriots" from both sides of the strait and assured that they would not allow external interference in this matter.

At the same time, the Japanese government expressed outrage over the comments from Chinese officials, pointing to the "red lines" that should not be crossed. This tension underscores the growing anxiety in the region regarding China's policies.

Therefore, communication between the leaders of both countries remains crucial for geopolitical stability in Asia and the global security order.
