"Ukrenergo" reports massive electricity disconnection schedules in all regions of Ukraine on January 16 due to Russian missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure.

Situation in Regions

According to DTEK, disconnection schedules will be in effect throughout the day in Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions. Specifically:

  • Dnipropetrovsk region: electricity will be cut 1-3 times per day, residents will be without electricity for 10.5 hours per day;
  • Kyiv region: planned disconnections 2-3 times during the day;
  • Kyiv: operating under a "three hours of power, ten hours without" mode.

Causes and Consequences

Energy expert Hennady Ryabtsev reported that CHP-5 and CHP-6 are unlikely to operate at full capacity until the end of the heating season.

Director of the Energy Research Center Alexander Kharchenko stated that Kyiv is currently experiencing the most challenging energy situation since the start of the full-scale war.

Recommendations for Consumers

"Ukrenergo" calls on citizens to consume electricity sparingly during scheduled availability. Precise timing and extent of disconnections can be found on regional energy company official pages in your area.
