The company "Ukrenergo" reported that in Ukraine on Monday, December 9, power outage schedules will continue to be in effect. The outages will last throughout the day from 00:00 to 23:59 for residential and industrial consumers.
Power Outage Schedules
According to the information provided, queues will be turned off simultaneously in a volume ranging from 2 to 4. However, "Ukrenergo" also warned that the volumes and duration of the restrictions may change, so Ukrainians should monitor updates on social media from their regional energy companies.
Reasons for Outages
The basis of the new power outage schedule is the necessity to reduce the load on the energy network due to enemy attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. On the night of December 6, Russian troops launched a massive shelling, leading to serious damage to energy facilities in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Lviv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions.
Electricity Supply Situation
As noted by the chairman of the board of NEC "Ukrenergo," Vitaliy Zaychenko, the most challenging situation is currently observed in Chernihiv and Donetsk regions, where power outages have been caused by constant shelling from the enemy. Electricity consumption is increasing, so electricity supply restrictions will continue.
It is worth recalling that on December 8, Ukraine also experienced emergency power outages due to high electricity consumption and a deficit in the power grid.
"Ukrenergo" urges consumers to conserve electricity after it is switched back on according to the schedule, which will ease the operation of the energy system during this difficult period.
