On the night of January 8, the Russian army carried out a massive drone attack on Kyiv, resulting in hits in several districts of the capital.

Attack Details

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko, an air raid alert was announced at 23:26. Russian drones attacked at least four city districts: Darnytskyi, Desnyanski, Dniprovskyi, and Pecherskyi.

Damage in the Capital

  • In the Darnytskyi district, a drone fell in the yard of a residential building, partially damaging a store
  • In the Desnyanski district, a UAV hit the roof of an 18-story building
  • In the Pecherskyi district, the facade of a 9-story building was damaged

According to preliminary data, two people were killed and five were injured in the attack.

Authorities' Reaction

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously warned about a possible massive strike by Russian troops on the night of January 9. Local authorities called on residents to follow safety rules during the air raid.
