The football club "Dynamo" (Kyiv) expressed its outrage regarding the behavior of some fans of "Omonia" during the UEFA Conference League fourth round match, which took place at the GSP stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. Supporters of the Cypriot club displayed flags of Russia and the USSR, which provoked a negative reaction from the Ukrainian team.

In an official statement, "Dynamo" noted that such displays of the aggressor country’s symbols contradict the safety rules and norms of behavior established by UEFA. The club emphasized that such actions create an unacceptable atmosphere at international matches and go beyond the boundaries of sports ethics.

Demands to UEFA and the Cyprus Football Association

"Dynamo" (Kyiv) expects UEFA, the Cyprus Football Association, and FC "Omonia" to adequately assess the situation and take appropriate measures that would prevent similar behavior in the future. Protecting the principles of sports ethics and safety on the field is an unconditional priority for international organizations.

Post-match consequences

It is worth noting that in this match "Dynamo" lost to "Omonia" with a score of 0:2, which led to the team's fall to 27th place in the overall standings of the main stage of the Conference League. Following the defeat, the dismissal of the head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi was announced. He was replaced by Ihor Kostyuk, who previously led the "Dynamo" U-19 team.

Ahead of "Dynamo" are two more important matches within the main stage of the Conference League: against the Italian "Fiorentina" and the Armenian club "Noah." This is the last chance to secure a place in the Round of 16 or to proceed to playoff matches to advance from the group.
