The quarantine on the energy front continues: during another massive attack on Ukraine's infrastructure on February 7, key energy facilities were damaged, including the power plant in Dobrotvir. This was reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Energy Denis Shmyhal.

According to him, Russian military forces struck substations and overhead lines, which are the backbone of the country's energy network, as well as the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir power plants. The destruction caused by this shelling complicates the situation in the energy sector, where emergency power outage schedules are in place throughout Ukraine.

Heating supply status in Kyiv

Against the backdrop of these events, the situation with heating supply in Kyiv remains critical. During the night of February 3, the capital also experienced attacks that led to the loss of heat for many residential buildings, particularly in the Darnytsia and Dnipro districts. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, as of today, 1126 addresses remain without heat. Experts assert that the restoration of heating in these areas is only partially possible.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that the Darnytsia Combined Heat and Power Plant also suffered serious damage, the restoration of which, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, may take at least two months, depending on the security situation in the country.

Restoration and energy sector needs

Denis Shmyhal noted that energy workers are ready to begin the restoration of damaged facilities as soon as the security situation allows. The dispatcher for "Ukrenergo" is activating the request for emergency assistance from neighboring states, reporting the critical condition of the energy infrastructure.

These events underscore the vital role of energy infrastructure in providing heating and electricity to Ukrainians during challenging times. All observers and citizens are awaiting a quick and effective restoration of the country's energy capabilities.
